Peace and Protest: “I respectfully disagree”
“It’s a great thing that people can express their opinion,
but I respectfully disagree with those that feel
Saddam Hussein is not a threat.”
-President George W. Bush.
When President Bush began his push toward war with Iraq, the world began its push against it. On February 16, 2003, millions of people in Europe, Latin America and the United States took to the streets to voice their protest. Television cameras showed protesters around the world filling the streets in unison with chants, songs, and screams for peace. T.V. anchor-people were calling it the largest anti-war protest since the Vietnam War. Saddam Hussein called it a “victory for Iraq.”
War started on March 19, 2003.
